Open Source Program

covdbg is built on open source. We use open source libraries, tools, and frameworks every day. This program is our way of giving back.

Why We Do This

The open source community makes software better for everyone. Projects like yours deserve proper tooling without licensing headaches getting in the way. If your code is public, covdbg is free – no restrictions, no watermarks, no forms.

How It Works

When you run covdbg with --fetch-license, it reads the git remote from your source_root directory, verifies the repository is public, and provisions a license automatically. No signup, no approval process.

We support GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Using a different platform? Email info@covdbg.com with a link to your repository.

FAQ

Can I use it for work if my employer contributes to OSS?

The OSS license applies to the specific open source project, not to your organization. If you’re working on proprietary code, you’ll need a Commercial license.

What about dual-licensed projects?

If your project has a public open source version, the OSS license applies to that version. Enterprise/closed-source variants require a Commercial license.
